Description

Siriri is a Brazilian folk song that tells the brief story of a young man called Siriri.  The first part of the folk song simply says that girls are calling for him, but he won’t answer them.  The second part says that he once found an old woman with only one leg, which is “possibly” the reason he will no longer answer the calls of the girls: he is afraid of finding other one-legged old women.

To help the choir memorize the piece, it is helpful for them to know that the piece is structured as a palindrome plus coda: A – B – C – D – C’ – B’ – A’ – Coda.  This piece is also available for mixed choir (S-250).
