To Elinor Wylie is a set of six poems by Edna St. Vincent Millay.  Song for a Lute, the first poem of the six, foreshoadows Wylie’s death.  Its intentionally limited material, repeated to the breaking point, recalls as much the loss of Elinor to death as it delineates the function of many of Elinor’s relationships–warm to those who were many miles away, icy to those nearby.
