Description
This piece, written by Ethan McGrath, is the second of Three Elegies for Chorus (all settings of Whitman) which were written in late 2009 and early 2010. The piece was inspired by the bold directness for which Whitman is well-known, and also by the underlying sensitivity. Whitman’s “Lilacs” is an elegy for President Abraham Lincoln.
