Description

This octavo contains four settings of the poems by Sara Teasdale (1884-1933).  The four poems in this octavo are: “Life Has Loveliness to Sell,” “To-Night,” “Dusk in June,” and “I Would Live in Your Love.”  The piece is recorded in its entirety on CD-07.

“To-Night” is given a simple and brief tratment, though it begins in canonic fashion.  The second verse achieves its magic with subtle but perfectly placed duple rhythms that unfold (“luminous” and the final “to-night”) against the predominantly gentle lilt in triple meter that precedes them.
