Description
Recorded on CD-07, Soundchants is published as three separate octavos: no.1: Keihala(S-217a); no.2: Ta tikee tei(S-217b); no.3: Zayadana(S-217c).
The title encapsulates two major features of this work: the pieces utilize sounds, not words taken from any real language; and they have a chant-like quality akin to music found in some folk cultures. With the exception of Ta Tikee Tei, which owes its inspiration specifically to a vocal practice associated with East Indian music, there has been no conscious attempt to emulate particular musical styles or languages.
