Gey ikh mir shpatsirn is a folksong from Eastern Europe. The lyrics are in Yiddish, an amalgamation of German and Hebrew, which was the lingua franca of Northern European Jews for hundreds of years. The song is a variation on the common theme of the spurned lover, but with a twist at the end. It is similar to (and perhaps derived from) a German folksong, Ich ging einmal spazieren.
