The text of Kashiri is a traditional Korean lyric poem, but the musical setting is entirely original. A good stylistic performance will remember that the traditional Korean vocal style involves a great deal of portamento, especially in sad music. It is best to invite a native Korean speaker to coach the choir on pronunciation, but the IPA is provided in the octavo. Also available for SATB (see S-44). A very dramatic setting. Difficult, but very effective and worth the effort! Requires a good pianist.
