The solo may be sung by either a soprano or tenor.  Unless the choir is very large, one tenor steel drum should be sufficient.  The arranger recommends the recording of this work by Anton Armstrong and the St. Olaf choir (CD-03) as an example of the ethereal synthesizer sounds and the improvisation of the conga and claves players in the opening eight measures.  At measure nine, the synthesizer should switch to a digital piano sound or another keyboard instrument may be used.
